Sg. Asap – On Tuesday, 17 December 2024, the SOP Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Sarawak Oil Palms Group (SOP), made a significant impact on the Sungai Asap region during a handover session by delivering spectacles to 128 residents from Uma Sambop, Batu Pilau, and Long Nanyan. This vital community health initiative began with comprehensive eye and health screenings on 8 October, 2024, at Uma Sambop, providing access to essential vision care and general health services.
The project was made possible through a strategic partnership between Klinik Kesihatan Sungai Asap and Spec Shop Sdn Bhd. By leveraging the expertise and resources of these collaborators, residents received general health check-ups, eye care, and corrective eyewear tailored to their specific needs. SOP Foundation covered the full cost of the services and spectacles, ensuring no financial burden for the recipients.
Jimbau Tumbai, Plantation Controller and SOP Foundation representative, emphasized SOP Foundation’s commitment to supporting the health and well-being of communities near SOP’s operations.
