Miri, 28 June 2024 – The Inter Miri Division Secondary Schools Choral Speaking Competition concluded today with resounding success, showcasing the exceptional talent and creativity of students across the Miri region. The momentous event was attended by 240 participants from twelve (12) schools across Miri Division. This annual event, which brings together young voices in a celebration of speech and teamwork, was fully sponsored by the SOP Foundation, underscoring their commitment to the development of youth and education.


The SOP Foundation, renowned for its dedication to fostering educational excellence and community development, provided full sponsorship for the competition. Established with the mission of supporting educational initiatives, the SOP Foundation has consistently contributed to various programs aimed at enriching the learning experiences of students in Malaysia.


The competition saw intense yet friendly rivalry among the participating schools, with each team delivering outstanding performances. The top five winners of this year's competition are as follows:

Champion: SMK Chung Hua (CF) Miri

1st Runner-Up: SMK Lutong

2nd Runner-Up: SMK Taman Tunku

4th Place: SMK Merbau

5th Place: SMK Riam

 

Additionally, the Best Conductor award was given to SMK Chung Hua (CF) Miri, and the Best Script award was given to SMK Lutong.


The closing ceremony was attended by Dr. Su Chong Ming [徐忠明], SOP Head of Research – Plantation, Deputy Director of the Miri District Education Office, Student Development Sector, Mr. Grispin Anak Sahah, and Noorlisyam Bin Ghazali, Senior Assistant of Co-Curriculum of SMK Taman Tunku.


Dr. Su highlighted the SOP Foundation's continued commitment to educational programs, stating, "Tomorrow, 29 June at Mega Hotel, the SOP Foundation will extend their support to a similar competition for primary students, further demonstrating their dedication to nurturing young talent from an early age."


The Inter Miri Division Secondary Schools Choral Speaking Competition not only celebrated the linguistic and artistic abilities of the students but also fostered a sense of camaraderie and mutual respect among the participants. The event concluded with a promise of even greater participation and support in the years to come.
