Miri– SOP Foundation has made a substantial contribution of construction materials, valued at over RM100,000 to the Penan community of Long Peran in Murum. This generous contribution marks a significant effort to support the community development and aims to enhance the quality of life for the residents of Long Peran.
The contribution includes essential construction materials such as spandex roof, plywood, and wooden poles. These materials will be instrumental in building a new longhouse, a central aspect of the community's infrastructure and daily life. In addition to these materials, SOP also providing machinery for land clearing and preparation, ensuring the smooth progress of the construction project.
"We are deeply committed to supporting the communities in Sarawak," said Michael Bangau, Estate Manager of Seping 1 Estate, and representing SOP Foundation during the handover ceremony. "Our contribution to the Long Peran community reflects our dedication to improving living conditions and promoting sustainable development. We believe that this new longhouse will significantly impact the Penan community, providing them with a safer and more comfortable living environment."
